I don't know how Spike Lee manages to make movies that are so right-on-time and of-the-moment, but he's done it again with BlackkKlansman. It's like he read a book (Black Klansman) last weekend, watched the news on Monday, wrote and filmed the movie during the week, and debuted the whole project on Friday- which just happened to be the one-year anniversary of the deadly Charlottesville protest.
Hats off to you- again- Mr. Lee.
Many are saying that BlackkKlansman is Spike's best work ever. While that may be debatable, does it really matter? Spike has once again created a timely, thought-provoking, hilarious, heart-breaking, well-written movie.
He entertains and teaches at the same time, which, I can tell you as a former teacher, ain't as easy as it looks.
Oh, and the afros are absolutely fabulous.
Go see BlackkKlansman.
Then, check out John David Washington's daddy's movie...
